Edition Lepsius

In cooperation with the Chair for the History and Theology of the Christian Orient at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and under the direction of Prof. Dr Hacik R. Gazer, the most significant texts by Johannes Lepsius on the Armenian question are being prepared for scholarly publication.

The result will be a multi-volume edition containing a detailed apparatus, a textual commentary, accounts of the origins, sources and impact of the texts, as well as a bibliography and an index of persons and places. The corpus of writings by a key figure of German Protestantism will thus be made accessible for further research into contemporary church history and the history of humanitarianism.

The project is funded by the German Research Foundation and is being worked on by Prof. Dr. Hacik R. Gazer, Dr. Roy Knocke and Bartholomäus Kühn.
